Prices are in US dollars, exclude VAT and are billed monthly. Yearly billing gives 2 months free: Small $99.99, Medium $359.99 and Large $959.99 a year. One VAT number check counts as one validation.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free VAT validation API plan?
Yes. The vatcheckapi free plan includes 150 validations a month, 1 API key and 10 requests a minute, with no credit card required.
How many API keys does each plan include?
Free and Small include 1 API key. Medium includes 2 API keys and Large includes 5.
Do sandbox calls count toward my validations?
No. Sandbox API keys are available on Medium and above, and sandbox calls cost nothing.
What counts as a validation?
Each validation is one request of your monthly quota: one VAT number, one EORI number or one IBAN. An IBAN batch counts one request per unique IBAN, and an e-invoice counts 1 for an XML file and 2 for a ZUGFeRD or Factur-X PDF. Only successful calls count; errors and rejected requests don't, but an answer that a number has an invalid format does.
What happens when my validations run out?
The API answers with HTTP 429 until your monthly quota resets or you upgrade. The status endpoint shows your remaining quota and doesn't count against it.
How reliable is the API?
We do not publish an uptime percentage. The status page shows the live state of the API, the website, the dashboard and the documentation, with its history.
Where does the data come from?
From the official VAT registries. We also check the format and checksum of every number ourselves.
What if I need more than 40,000 validations a month?
Contact us and we'll set up a custom plan with the volume and terms you need.
Can I cancel at any time?
Yes. You can cancel your plan from your dashboard in less than 30 seconds.
Is IBAN validation included in the plans?
Yes. Every plan can validate IBANs, and each IBAN counts as one request. Bank names and BICs come from national bank directories; the Belgian bank identification codes are also available free of charge on the website of the National Bank of Belgium (nbb.be).
